Years on the Moon

Years on the moon
I've died of boredom in this paradise
I hope there's books that you have wrote for me
I hope you haven't gone away outside
It's always a pain to take a ride
Years gone too soon
I've tried to hand to you a slice of life
I know there's looks from those out on the street
I know you haven't gone away this time
It's always a pain to take a ride

North Enchalm

There's a barking booming through the woods
But I hold no fear
As it catches my ear
And she was quite a lively creature where I stood
She was tall
The colour of fall
I didn't know what to say
I felt smaller than a newborn babe
There's a darkness looming through the woods
But it's nice
It's only the night
And it was warmer when she told me that I should
Leave my possessions at the riverside
And they slowly float away
Till all I was has washed astray
In such a way I'm glad when all has been erased
She said
Take me back to the North Cascades
A place where I feel that I was raised
Up on the haze of a blue lake with no bottom
Never knew just how long to stay
The hours fly by like it's a god damn race
We were always caught off guard by the fires of autumn
There's a house that sits out in the woods
It's all mine
And built from pine
It is empty all the months I am not near
A roof so worn
From fighting the storms
Now I forgot just where it lies
And it should come as no surprise
I should've never thought twice when I saw that look in her eyes
When she said
Take me back to the North Cascades
A place where I feel that I was raised
Up on the haze of a blue lake with no bottom
All I owned, I never held so dear
Was I wishing that I could move right outta here
To go missing out in the dry red leaves of autumn
Take me back to the North Cascades
A place where I feel that I was raised
Up on the haze of a blue lake with no bottom
Never knew just how long to stay
The hours fly by like it's a god damn race
We were always caught off guard by the fires of autumn

Bright Sea

Could you tell me that we'll all live again
Yeah I'll believe it, whatever you said
Could you tell me that we're carried on the western wind
Out to the bright sea
When we're dead
I could always pester you with those ugly questions to no end
'Cause you're my best friend
Could you tell me why I'm feeling the way I do
Yeah I'll believe it, whatever you said
Could you tell me why I'm bluer than the pale blue moon
Who swims the bright sea
She can't comprehend
I could always pester you with those ugly questions to no end
'Cause you're my best friend
Could you plant me a vineyard with acres of land
Yeah I believe it, I believe you can
Could you hide me when it won't go as planned
From the bright sea
And her infinite lambaste
I could always pester you with those ugly questions to no end
'Cause you're my best friend
Could you remind me we were all once little kids
Skipping our stones
and holding our breath
Could you tell me 2012 is all that we have left
Oh, you bright sea
Together we'll face death
I could always pester you with those ugly questions to no end
'Cause you're my best friend

Sip of Your City

Memories stand all alone on the seaside
While the whistleblowers stand on the outside
And their twisted tongues are making up new words
For the teachers, the preachers, the stray cats and free birds
Mystic grey winters and cloud covered ceilings
The sobering taste from one sip of your city
A care for your heart is a care for your mind
The aesthetic pleasures become even better with time
One stop do not let your weary heads drop to the side
With one sip of your city, you know when to stay for the ride
Frostbitten forests and broken down buildings
Kerosene laterns to see what good hope brings
Toppled-down tree tops and bed-ridden beasts lay
Beyond brightly lit streets just waiting on new prey

PART 1
Could our spirits waste a single day
Would they roam the flowers far away
That scent I know it sets me free
Some exotic eastern orange tree
I know you’ve been out there wandering (lost tracks)
Out on the boulders pondering (come back)
The stream I know it seems to flow (so slow)
But I might be gone before it brings you home
Raise a cemetery
For us to rest
We have adorned you with a crest
All the modern people
With modern eyes
Should be so wrong to fantasize
The seasons out here always seem (to not last)
Like time is moving far from me (so fast)
If I could only half-perceive (these things)
I’d have a reason to receive (your gifts)
I lay some flowers here for you (all red)
So they can all remember who (lay dead)
They have a word for you today (who knew)
They’d leave their graves to hear you say
Raise a cemetery
For us to rest
We have adorned you with a crest
All the modern people
With modern eyes
Should be so wrong to fantasize
You don’t hide a single thing you do
Silver birch a forest grown anew
Take the bark
Draw a map of the hills you once conquered
And we can share a laugh
They were the size of the mountains on the postcards that your brother sent to you
Windows fog as winter comes to stay
Open ocean slower every day
Rolled-up sleeves
Torn-up jeans
Ceaseless patterns woven past the seams
I have a memory of you older than the gold that’s gone away
